Staxyn is also known by the generic name Vardenafil and is prescribed to treat male erectile dysfunction. Vardenafil helps stimulate blood flow to the penis helping the man develop and hold an erection.

Before taking Staxyn read all the paper work given to you by your pharmacist. Administer one does of Staxyn with or without food roughly one hour before sexual activity. Take the medication out of the package and let it dissolve on your tongue without crushing or chewing the tablet. Do not have liquid while administering the dose. Avoid taking more than one does in 24 hours.

There are multiple types of Vardenafil medication. Some can dissolve on your tongue like Staxyn, however some tablets are coated differently in other generic versions of Vardenafil. Make sure you follow the directions on the package to ensure you are taking the medication correctly.

Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Staxyn. It changes how your body absorbs the medication potentially causing side effects.

Before taking Staxyn speak with your doctor regarding known allergies or sensitivities as there are ingredients that induce an allergic reaction. Speak with your doctor about prior medical conditions relating to kidney or liver disease, heart problems, loss in body water, priapism, eye problems, and bleeding disorders. Staxyn may increase the risk of irregular heart rhythm (QT prolongation) causing dizziness or fainting. Speak with your doctor regarding medical history relating to hear failure before taking Staxyn.

This drug does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases or urinary tract infections. When engaging in sexual intercourse be sure to use protection to avoid STD's or UTI's.

Some side effects can include: flushing (warmth, redness, or tingling in your face, neck, or chest), stuffy or runny nose, headache, dizziness, upset stomach, indigestion, back pain.

More serious side effects can include: an erection that won't go away (priapism), color vision changes, such as seeing a blue tinge to objects or having difficulty telling the difference between the colors blue and green, sudden vision loss, ringing in your ears or sudden hearing loss, chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling, irregular heartbeat, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet, shortness of breath, lightheadedness or fainting, or seizures (convulsions).

Speak with your doctor or pharmacist for help managing any side effects that become too severe during your treatment with Staxyn. If you experience any serious side effects contact your doctor for additional medical treatment.

Q: Can I take Staxyn while pregnant?

A: This medication is not typically used by woman, so it is highly unlikely that it would be used during pregnancy.
